Types of sensors used in automobiles

Engine speed sensor

Oxygen sensor

In the exhaust stream, usually near the exhaust manifold and after the catalytic converter, the oxygen sensor (or O2 sensor) monitors the content of the exhaust gases to the oxygen ratio. The information is compared to the oxygen content of the ambient air and is used to determine whether the engine is running at a great fuel ratio or is thinner. The engine computer uses this information to determine fuel metering strategy and emission controls.

Spark knock sensor

The spark knock sensor is used to determine if the fuel is burning smoothly, otherwise it will cause an unexpected ignition. This ignition is very dangerous and can cause damage to the car engine’s rings, head gasket and rod bearings. Fitting these parts is expensive. So this sensor is used to eliminate all the problems in the car engine.

Coolant sensor

The most important sensor used in automobiles is the coolant sensor. This is because the computer relies on sensor inputs to control all functions. For example, turn on / off the EFE system (initial fuel evaporation), deceleration, spark advance, EGR flow and canister cleaner. Generally, this sensor can be connected on board. Manifold Absolute pressure sensor

Fuel temperature sensor

This sensor monitors the injection of petrol at the correct speed and temperature. So that the car engine works properly.

Voltage sensor

Voltage sensor is a type of sensor used in automobiles. The main function of this sensor is to maintain the speed of the car and to ensure that the speed is increased (or decreased) as needed. That’s why it must be in your car.

Throttle position sensor

The throttle position sensor in automobiles mainly uses a feedback carburetor and electronic fuel injection (EFI). It informs the computer about the throttle opening rate as well as the corresponding throttle position. This sensor is a variable resistor, which is used to change the resistance when the throttle is open. Detecting faulty throttle position sensor features is not complicated. Since there is a drop when accelerating, you may notice that the sensor is not working. This is the main signal of a faulty throttle position sensor. Whenever you replace this sensor, you may not be able to adjust it properly.

Vehicle speed sensor

As the name suggests, this VSS sensor is capable of verifying the speed of the car wheels. It is a kind of tachometer. This sensor is housed in an anti-braking system called ABS.
